Seattle Rugby Club one club many
facets. We field up to three mens sides and two womens sides on any glorious Northwest
Saturday or Sunday. In the Spring, were responsible for as many as three youth high
school teams. Last year our Kent Crusaders hosted and was victorious in the Girls
National Invitational Tournament. We also dont turn our alumnus out to pasture: the
Seattle Olde Guard Mens side play a full schedule and the inaugural Northwest 30 and
over womens side was established by a Seattle Old Girl. Were a proud club with numerous
members who have one thing in common the love of the best sport in the world.
Our playing sides compete in different leagues and travel extensively throughout British
Columbia and the USA. Our Senior Womens team competed in Philadelphia in October.
They play in both the British Columbia First Division as well as the USA Rugby Union.
Our Senior Mens team plays in not one, not two but three leagues. British Columbia
1st Division, USA Rugby Union and Major League Rugby (MLR). Theyve traveled to Las
Vegas, Boulder, CO and the Bay Area.
We have doctors, computer specialists, teachers, laborers, and students on our teams.
We have capped international players as well as brand new rookies who have never before
seen a rugby ball. If youd like to be contacted by our recruiting chairs for either
men, women, old or young, please click here and youll
be connected to our contacts page to see whom to email for Men or Women.
Were proud partners with a number
of businesses and groups, none more important than the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
The Eagles facility is our home, so to speak. We host meetings here, host teams, eat,
drink and socialize with the community. SRFC memorabilia will soon line the rooms
so the general public will see SRFC gear in the hallowed walls of the Eagles Aerie
#1. Our home away from home is the Owl and Thistle in downtown Seattle, and many of
our members purchase kit from Seattles ONLY rugby supplier, Sporthaus Schmetzer on
Lake City Way in North Seattle.
SRFC is open to many modes of publicizing our team. In July of 2002, one of our long-standing
womens members, Liz Kirk, threw out the first pitch at a Seattle Mariners game at
Safeco Field. Weve been written about in the Seattle Times as well as Bellevues Eastside
Journal. For more information about Public Relations and Marketing ideas, please dont
hesitate to contact Kerry Rasmussen, SRFC PR and Media
Director.
